In March 2013 Attorney Falangetti was brought in to assist with Lindsey Lohan's legal case stemming from a car accident occuring in June 2012. She was sentenced to 90 days probation and ordered to pay restitution to driver of the truck she hit. A three justice panel threw out embezzlement charges against the four former Irwindale city offices after it was determined that the District Attorney's Office withheld information from the grand jury that would have undermined the proscution's case. The failure to present the document to the court prevented the grand jury from coming to a fully-informed decision. Assemblyman Roger Hernandez of West Covina was falsely accused of abusing drugs and domestic violence by an ex-girlfriend. Within two days of the accusations, Hernandez submitted a drug test which came up clean and there was no evidence found to support her domestic violence claim. Attorney Falangetti represented the assemblyman.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor ruled that former Irwindale Mayor Mark Breceda and former Councilwoman Rosemary Ramirez could not be prosecuted for misappropriation of public funds and conflict of interest in a decade old case. It was alleged that the two and former Councilman Manuel Garcia spent taxpayer money on a lavish trip to New York.
Attorney Falangetti argued that the statute of limitations began once the city manager discovered the potential crime and while the District Attorney’s Office had received multiple letters about the situation and provided it with a case number, prosecutors didn’t file a formal complaint until five years later.
